RATE:         Open   Job Description Reporting to the Director of Business Solutions Services, the Principal Web Engineer is responsible for leading the implementation of CLIENT’s technical Web architecture, and overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and support of CLIENT’s Web applications. He/she will be responsible for creating and directing the use of the frameworks and methodologies used for web development. This person will provide leadership and direction to CLIENT’s development staff, and will also have a hands-on role in designing and implementing CLIENT’s Web applications.    Required Skills   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (e.g., in order to be considered to perform this position, the person must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities listed below): 1. Collaborate in the design of Client’s Web application architecture and infrastructure 2. Provide leadership in the design, development and implementation of Web applications. 3. Develop prototype application solutions and infrastructure for future project and/or production use. 4. Provide hands on mentoring and leadership to project teams in the design and development of key strategic projects. 5. Perform hands on technical troubleshooting and provide consultation to development teams. 6. Approve detailed application designs. 7. Interface with a variety of technical teams, internal as well as third party, as required by specific projects 8. Build strong relationships with parties outside of CLIENT including software vendors and industry peers 9. Maintain expertise in current relevant technologies, evaluate features and products for use in future web solutions, and provide recommendations 10. Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices and partners with the appropriate IT organizations 11. All other duties as assigned Required Experience   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Expert experience in MVC development 2. Experience in Javascript. 3. Experience in AJAX 4. Knowledge in CMS systems, Percussion a plus 5. Experience in web security architecture 6. Experience in caching technologies 7. Experience in search and SEO 8. BA or BS in Computer Science or related discipline; Masters preferred. 9. 8+ years proven ability and experience in architecting, designing, and developing enterprise-class web-based solutions preferably in a SOA architecture or in a distributed systems environment 10. Familiarity with Student Loan Industry, Financial Education Industry, and/or Educational Web Software a plus 11.
