Based in Plano, TX and providing service nationwide, Edge is led by highly credentialed industry veterans and recruits only the highest quality individuals.Position DescriptionSystems Engineer, a motivated individual who has experience supporting IP PBX and standard data networking applications. Successful candidates will be self-managed, highly organized, detail oriented, with abilities to multi-task in an enterprise IP PBX environment. The System Engineer will be the subject matter expert for the Edge communications integrated voice and data applications platform.Primary Responsibilities-Develop deep and thorough understanding of numerous enterprise voice & data applications and services. -Provide technical sales support for the quoting of customer voice and data systems and applications.-Complete Site Survey forms to analyze customer networks and to prepare an integration plan.-Complete as built customer diagrams, the proposed solution diagrams, and identify all physical cabling requirements.-Create the initial Customer Site Document (CSD) to document all physical and logical elements of a customer s network to aid on ongoing managed service technical support.-Process and schedule local number portability requests.-Validate implementation checklist and prepare project plan schedule. Coordinate with installation partners and/or reseller channels.-Load software, test, and simulate the customer network at our facility prior to shipping the system.-Integrate customer systems into the Edge Communications network. Obtain project acceptance.-Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution. -Contribute to after-hours technical support.-Simulate software platform upgrades in the lab environment. Create the method of procedure document to obtain customer pre-approvals for moves, add, and changes.-Perform regression lab testing to validate new software releases. -Innovate by recommending new feature requests that would benefit the customer or the company.-Provide training to all team members on specific areas of expertise.-Creation of knowledge base documentation, including “how to or “frequently asked questions for internal use to support efficient process improvements.Other Expectations-Thrive in a demanding, dynamic entrepreneurial environment.-Possess character, integrity, commitment to excellence, positive energy, and intellectual curiosity. Desired Skills & Experience-3-5 years of experience in a telecom customer-facing support and engineering environment.-3-5 years field PBX installation experience -3-5 years troubleshooting, analysis, and remediation of typical small business/enterprise IP voice and data networks. -3-5 years of experience on VoIP (SIP), WiFi, IP video, unified communications other small business/enterprise IP applications. Asterisk VoIP and other Open Source. -Working knowledge of standard enterprise networking protocols, standards, and hardware and systems (x86, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, DNS, NAT, firewalls, LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching).-Experience with packet capturing tools and analysis such as wireshark.-Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).-Self-starter that exhibits a high level of attention to accurate detail.-Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.-Ability to multi task and dynamically prioritize task with proven time management.-Superior communications and relationship skills.Join TEKsystems® and get your career on the fast track.
